New Line Cinema has gained control of all of Vertigo Comics properties in the hopes of producing movie content

By now you’re probably aware of DC’s big plan to expand their cinematic universe with their massive movie line up over the next few years. But for those of you who did not know, DC Comics also owns Vertigo Comics – and now it seems the time for Vertigo to shine has come.

According to a new report, Warner Brothers has decided to focus on the DC universe, building on their roster of upcoming movies including the Suicide Squad, Batman v Superman, Aquaman, and Justice League while New Line Cinema now has gotten control over all Vertigo properties. Vertigo, as you may or may not know, holds many critically acclaimed and fan favorite titles including: Fables, Y: The Last Man, 100 Bullets and Transmetropolitan. Vertigo has also featured more gritty DC famous characters such as Swamp Thing and Constantine in the Hellblazer series.

Most notably however is the title of Sandman. The famous series written by Neil Gaiman has been long in development. With Joseph Gordon-Levitt as director and star of the film adaptation, this could be New Line Cinema’s first Vertigo based film to be released.  AMC also picked up Vertigo title, Preacher earlier this year but it is unclear whether New Line Cinema’s control will extend beyond film and into the realm of television.

What Vertigo property would you like to see a film adaptation of? For us, Y: The Last Man or Scalped would be awesome! Let us know below!
